For the longest time, I thought I was just running a business.
A photography studio. A website. A calendar of bookings and deadlines. You know – business.
But lately, something has shifted. Not loudly, not all at once – but steadily, like something unfolding at the edge of my awareness.
And here it is:
I’m not just building a business. I’m actually building a brand.
And more than that – I feel I’m taking part in something bigger than myself.
At first, that idea felt uncomfortable. It’s easy to downplay what we’re doing when we’re inside it every day. But with each portrait I make, each conversation I have, each woman who steps in front of my lens or into my inbox – I can feel it:
This isn’t just work.
It’s a movement.
A movement toward authenticity.
Toward feminism that’s lived, not just labelled.
Toward human dignity, expressed through stillness and softness and strength.
Toward kindness that sees, not just smooths.
I’ve always cared about how people feel in front of my camera. That hasn’t changed. But now, I’m starting to understand the bigger shape of what I’m holding. What we’re all a part of. The true Common Thread, if you will.
And maybe, just maybe, this brand – this thing I’m building – isn’t about me at all.
It’s about all of us.
How we see. How we’re seen. And how much more interesting & beautiful we are when we stop trying to be pretty.
I’m standing in that awareness now—with a little awe and a lot of gratitude.
Until next time,
